Linux kernel 2.6.26 finally released
New news from the open source community, after nine release candidates (RCs), Linus Torvalds, the main developer of linux kernel finally released the version 2.6.26 of the Linux kernel.
This kernel was released after after a lengthy three-month development process since the 2.6.25 release. Between the process, the kernel releases it’s nine release candidates (RC).
In it’s announcment on the release on the Linux Kernel Mailing List, Linus Torvalds said the 87 days development phase since the 2.6.25 makes this version (2.6.26) is a longer-than-usual release cycle.
What is the improvement from the previous RC? Torvalds said the changes are small, most of it (80 percent) was documentation updates.
