Onno W Purbo asks Indonesian’s government to embrace open source and kick microsoft’s butt out of Indonesia
Hot news, one of major prominent IT experts in Indonesia is asking the Indonesian’s government to embrace open source and “kick microsoft’s butt” out of Indonesia.
The speaker (mr Onno W Purbo), is an ex lecturer of electrical engineering on Bandung Institute of Technology (the best technische hoogeschool in Indonesia), an MSc from a Canada University. He is a prominent IT expert in Indonesia, and acknowledged as a major IT expert that continuously preaching Linux to Indonesian people.
He said that by implementing open source for 140 million users of computer in Indonesia, will saves indonesia’s devisa and boosting the development of national’s software industries.
Good luck mr Onno, you are the real IT hero in Indonesia. I agree with you….. I don’t really understand why should we use a product that it’s price is twice of our monthly salary.
PS: Microsoft is still needed for some fields, hence this article not necesserily means as a banned microsoft project. I just want to say that if we only needs computer for office and internet, then buying windows is just a lavishness.
